Susan was born and raised in Waukegan, in the surroundings of the creative influence of a family of crafts people. With this foundation, Susan began continuing education in interior design, transitioning to fine art. After receiving a BFA with an emphasis on textile art and design, she started her career in retail at the well-know, Chicago based Crate and Barrel.
With a total of 34 years, her career included visual merchandising, product management and product design. Susan traversed the world, with an eye out for trends and tradition, to bring home comforting houseware products made by talented craftspeople. Following this rewarding career, a desire to be involved in volunteering within the community lead her to Elawa Farm’s kitchen and the very talented culinary team.
After three years volunteering as an all-around helper, a return to retail, via the Elawa Farm Market, is now her ideal balance of community involvement and love of all things related to decorating and entertaining. Susan is thrilled to be part of the Elawa team and to be able to contribute to the mission of the Elawa Farm Foundation.
