Organization Overview:  

The Cafe at Elawa Farm offers breakfast, lunch, coffee service, weekend brunch, and kid friendly options. The Cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8am to 3pm.  Our menu is seasonal, highlighting our farm’s produce as well as local farmer food.  

Elawa Farm Foundation’s mission is to steward a historic farm that enriches greater Lake County as a center for experiential learning to broaden access to education, nutritious food, and our local food system. We gather community through food and agriculture with community-based programs and events.    

 

Elawa is a tip-free organization with all hourly staff paid a flat hourly rate. 

 

Position summary: 

The Barista serves customers in a prompt and efficient manner preparing all drink orders according to our standards. The Cafe at Elawa Farm has partnered with Tala on all our coffee offerings. The Cafe at Elawa Farm will also serve alcohol, including a curated wine list.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Greet customers and take order; provide information about offerings

  • Cleans and stocks work area 

  • Follows all procedures and policies, including those for safety and security, to ensure safety of all associates during each shift 

  • Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume to keep area operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team 

  • Responds to customer requests and complaints 

  • At times, maintains & operates a cash register for transactions (using Toast point-of-sale system) 

 

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. 

  • Good understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs. 

  • Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Food handler card.  

  • Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Supervises:  N/A 

Status: Full time  

Compensation:  $20/hour, based on experience
