About Ana Poznanski

At the age of five, Ana’s mother took her to her first horseback riding lesson and thus her love for agriculture was born. Growing up in Fox Lake, Illinois Ana and her family were never too far from the farm, so she spent her days cleaning stalls and riding around cornfields. Little did she know those farm experiences would be her future.

Ana followed her passion for taking care of the environment to Iowa State University, where she earned her degree in Biology. Initially, she did not know which path to take within the sustainability space. She worked the summers on conventional farms researching corn and soybean diseases and testing different herbicides and pesticides. It was during those summers that Ana realized how much she loved growing food, and seeing what the current farming practices were doing to our land made her realize how much change was needed.

Having grown up in the Chicagoland area, Ana knew she wanted to come back and grow food in the communities she loved growing up around, which has brought her to Elawa Farm Foundation.
